Dados Hist\u00f3ricos<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Nemea \u00e9 uma \u00e1rea a apenas 115 km a sudoeste de Atenas. Tornou-se mais conhecida pelo famoso feito de H\u00e9rcules, o exterm\u00ednio do terr\u00edvel le\u00e3o que habitava a \u00e1rea, conhecida como \u201c o Le\u00e3o de Nemea\u201d. Al\u00e9m disso, na terra de Nemea, reinou de acordo com a lenda, o filho do deus Dion\u00edsio (deus do vinho), que fundou uma cidade que levava seu nome, Fliounta.
Nemea costumava ser chamada de Agios Georgios da igreja bizantina hom\u00f4nima da qual a famosa variedade de uvas – Agiorgitiko – tomou seu nome. A variedade Agiorgitiko, e de forma mais geral a produ\u00e7\u00e3o de uvas e vinho na regi\u00e3o, datam de 2000 a.C.<\/p>\n

A \u00e1rea<\/strong><\/h2>\n

A \u00e1rea de produ\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e9 bastante extensa a partir de uma altitude de 200 metros e atingindo at\u00e9 850 metros. A maioria dos vinhedos da \u00e1rea s\u00e3o compostos por encostas. O clima da regi\u00e3o \u00e9 o clima t\u00edpico do Mediterr\u00e2neo, com uma temperatura m\u00e9dia anual de 17o C, e uma m\u00e9dia anual de chuvas de 750 mm. Os solos dos vinhedos s\u00e3o de conte\u00fado org\u00e2nico m\u00e9dio, com pH alcalino moderado e com um teor relativamente alto de carbonato de c\u00e1lcio.<\/p>\n

Nemea is an area just 115 km southwest of Athens. It became better known from the famous feat of Hercules, the extermination of the terrible lion that inhabited the area, known as \u00ab the Lion of Nemea\u00bb. Also, in the land of Nemea, he reigned according to legend, the son of the god Dionysus (god of wine), who founded a city that bore his name, Fliounta.
Nemea used to be called Agios Georgios from the homonymous Byzantine church from which the famous grape variety - Agiorgitiko - took its name. The area<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The production area is quite extensive starting from an altitude of 200 meters and reaching up to 850 meters. Most of the area\u2019s vineyards are consisted by slopes. The climate of the region is the typical Mediterranean climate, with an average annual temperature of 17o C, and an average annual rainfall of 750 mm. PDO means Protected Designation of Origin and is the name identifying a product originating in a particular place, region or in exceptional cases a country whose quality or characteristics are mainly or exclusively due to the geographical environment including native natural and human factors, and whose all stages of production take place within the defined geographical area.
